Born and raised in the United Kingdom, I was very aware of the traditions in English riding and horsemanship. When I moved to the United States in 1993, I discovered that regardless of the attire people wore they often shared one thing in common with each other, difficulty getting along with their horses.
When I found myself struggling to get along with a particularly troubled horse that I owned, I embarked on a journey to find a way to improve myself, so that I had more to offer the horse.
I sought to study under people who emulated the qualities I so admire in the late Tom Dorrance. I have now been training for over 20 years and constantly seek to improve myself as both a student of the horse and as a teacher.
Fear and intimidation have no place in the training of either the horse or the rider, as true horsemanship cannot be learnt under those conditions.
My goal as a trainer is to help people to get along with their horses in a way that fits the horse, and bring the joy of horsemanship to the rider.
